Slytherin

Mustafa found our unwanted visitor again the day before yesterday...it was hanging around in the front garden this time and he didn't let it get away.

I was a little bit annoyed that he killed it at first, but after sending in the photos to Rentokil and getting their response (see below), I have changed my mind....! Further, it has now occured to me that this is in fact what might have killed my dog - I never thought to check him for a snake bit.

From Rentokil:
'Good Morning Florence

It looks like a West African Green Mamba (also called Western Green Mamba) which is highly venomous, it is more than capable of killing a human if not treated quickly. I sent it to a colleague in South Africa who is more expert than us. Whilst he said whilst not conclusive, he agrees with our ID. I’ve attached a library photo of one below and a description for you to compare. I think you did the right thing killing it!! It’s likely to have been brought here as a pet as it’s not normally native, they normally stay in trees.'

more garden

Frangipane is coming along rather well...and smelling very sweet :)

I purchased a table and some chairs from Mark and Judith as they were leaving-time to sort out the front garden a little bit!

Those cuttings from Avantika's garden are very happy next to Mustafa's house:

Planted some flowers from the pots/seeds around the base of the palm trees

The Betz hibiscus also seems to have settled in happily:

I realise I haven't posted many pics of the house...

I (accidentally) nicked off the top of the jasmine when tying it up, but it seems to have improved the top section dramatically!

The what's-it has also finally taken properly:

Some brand new leaves....

This one is ready to be transplated now

The one surviving raspberry plant! Guess it's just not the right climate here

It was a beautiful sunset

Yellow flowers now growing healthily...

The sudden 40 degree day did not agree with some of my plants :(

The totally dead bougainvillae next to the big one.....

is in fact...

back in business! Miracles never cease

The last of a great crop of tomatoes

Courgettes have never had a better time

Several of these monsters seems to have appeared in the last few days! :))

The first harvest
